We had the pleasure of hosting our niece/goddaughter this past weekend. It was her first trip to Chicago so we had fun showing her around. Our girls were thrilled to have a really long sleepover and extended playdate with her.

This is just one picture from the weekend (more to come!) showing buddies Liv and Fiona at the top of Navy Pier's ferris wheel. Hugs at 150 feet are the best!

Thanks for coming Olivia!

A good moment

Our daughters are friends, they get along, they laugh, they play. Not always...there are moments of crying, hair pulling (Nora is no pushover), seperate rooms. Lately since Fiona has had a couple weeks off from school, we have noticed Nora is taking the change in routine personally. She doesn't love that Fiona is around so much taking time and love away from her. Nora isn't bashful and has made her opinion clear to her older, bigger sister. Those are not great moments.

Today there was a great moment when the girls were holding hands, by Nora's request, walking along the lake. I was lucky enough to witness and document it! It didn't last long, but it ended well. Fiona turned to me and said "See Mom, she DOES love me". Awww.

Wend 13

Many years ago I fell in love with a girl who drove a black Jeep with the license plate WEND 13. Having a personalized license plate was one of the MANY ways that she stood out from everyone else in the world. The 13, you see, was (and is) her favorite number. Because today, June 13th, is her birthday.

Happy Birthday, Wen! I love you even more than I did back when you drove me around in your black Jeep.

Bathing beauty

This is one of my favorite pictures of Nora. The pure bliss that is written all over her face is priceless.

We are so looking forward to this summer. Our girls are perfect ages for it all...swimming, playing in the yard, fishing, going to the park, the whole thing.

Life is good.

I fully realize that we are going to blink and the kids will be all grown up. I try to savor every moment and all the stages keeping in mind they will pass all too quickly. Fiona isn't helping me by acting like she is already grown, though. That girl doesn't think she is four, I swear.

To give me a glipse into my future, Fiona was asked out today by an older boy. We were at the park and they were playing, as we were leaving I heard him say to her "give me your number so I can call you" and giggled and said "20 40". I guess that's her own line.

Soon enough a 16 year old Fiona will really be borrowing Jim's car. I am sure to just do groceries or go to church though. Yep.

Nora was coloring, made a one-of-a-kind masterpiece that only a toddler can make, Fiona looked at it and said "Oh NORA, that is great, how are just amazing!". Nora nodded in agreement. I smiled.

Fiona missed a step and tumbled to the ground crying. I was comforting her when Nora came running into the room saying "Fi Fi, ugh oh, Fi Fi, okkkkkk" as she rubbed her back. Fiona stopped crying and said "Thanks, Nora, I feel better now". I smiled.

(Never mind that all of this happened today before the sun came up)
