One year down!

What a fun-filled birthday weekend! Fiona enjoyed turning 1 - and we loved celebrating her birthday. Saturday was the big party, and our house was filled with Fiona's grandparents, aunts, uncles, and many cousins. All of her guests were very generous with the gifts they brought Fiona, and I know she can't wait to play with lots of her new toys. Here are some pictures from the party - Fiona with her new Dora the Explorer ball, and enjoying a very good chocolate cake. And yes, she did get MUCH messier than this picture shows.

Fiona is 364 days old!

One year ago, Wendy and I were waiting. A few days overdue, Wendy was ready "to be done." I still remember her telling me that, usually many times a day. And one year ago, we realized that March 22, 2006 would be the last day that our family would be just the two of us.

Little did we know how different our lives would be once Fiona arrived. Listen up, parents-to-be! I know you've heard these words before, but they are worth repeating. Your lives are going to COMPLETELY CHANGE. Before 3/23/06, we could sleep in, stay up late, go out on a whim, fall asleep on the couch, go outside for hours, hop a plane. Our house was gate-free. There was no scent of diapers anywhere. We could leave our remote control on the floor, without fear of it being hi-jacked. We could have friends over and be loud at 1:00 in the morning. All without a second thought.

But things have changed. Things have COMPLETELY CHANGED. And they have changed for the better. Without a doubt, 100% for the better. No amount of laziness on the couch, freedom around the house, parties late at night, could compare to the absolute love and joy that we felt when Fiona joined our family. That moment when she was born - it truly is beyond description. And I still cannot comprehend how ENDLESS that feeling is. Every single day we feel that same absolute love and joy for her.

What can I say - we are a couple of very lucky parents!

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!!!

Faith and Begorrah! Happy St. Patrick's Day! Today is Fiona Joyce's favorite day of the year. In fact, we even caught her singing an Irish pub song!

Have a safe, fun and relaxing St. Paddy's Day! Slainte!

Yoga Baby

Not sure where Fiona picked this up, but Wendy tells me it's a yoga position. "Yawning Dog" or something. Wait, I've been corrected. "Downward Facing Dog."

OK. I guess Casey's been giving her some pointers. Here they are talking shop.

Momma!

Fiona's favorite person in the world right now is her momma. I swear she says "Momma" about 372 times a day. It's ironic because for a while, she would say "Da-da" all the time, but when we would ask her to say Momma and she would just give a coy smile. Now, she won't stop!

Not only does she like saying Momma, she likes being with Momma. And sometimes she doesn't like me coming home from work and depriving her of precious Momma time. Fortunately, I don't take it personally.

Welcome one and all!!!

Welcome to our blog. This is officially replacing the critically-acclaimed website, boldischar.com. Though it was an award-winning website, it suffered from my chronic procrastination. We hope that this blog provides more frequent updates of our family. OK, let's be honest - more frequent pictures of Fiona. That is, after all, what you're here for, right?
In addition to photos of the soon-to-be-1-yr-old, check back here for regular witty writings from the pen of yours truly. And on occasion, from my lovely wife Wendy. Thanks for visiting - and enjoy!
